Rina Carvajal

Executive Director and Chief Curator of Miami Art Central. She received her Bachelor and Masters of Fine Arts and Spanish and Portuguese Literature degrees from New York University. Ms. Carvajal was previously the Director of the Mason Gross Art Galleries at Rutgers University. She was also adjunct curator for the 1998 XXIV Sao Paulo Biennial, and Ahmanson Curatorial Fellow at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (MoCa, LA) from 1997 – 2000. Formerly, Ms. Carvajal was curator of contemporary art at the Museo de Bellas Artes as well as deputy Director of Museo Contemporáneo, both in Caracas, Venezuela. From 1985 to 1990 she worked in the education department of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. She has taught art history at Mc Gill University in Montreal, the Universidad Simón Bolívar, Caracas and the Universidad Federal de Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte, among other institutions. She is also the author of numerous essays and exhibitions catalogues on international contemporary.
