He is professor at the Department of Sociology, University of Lucerne. He works in the fields of political theory, media and cultural studies and art theory. He has worked as an advisor for Documenta11 and its education project and has widely taught at universities and art schools. Apart from books and articles in German he has published Laclau: A Critical Reader, edited with Simon Critchley (Routledge 2004) and Post-Foundational Political Thought. Political Difference in Nancy, Lefort, Badiou and Laclau (Edinburgh University Press 2007) which will be translated into Spanish (Fondo de Cultura Economica) by April 2008.
