María del Carmen Carrión

(Ecuador, lives in New York). Independent curator and art critic, she received an MA in Curatorial Practices from the California College of the Arts (San Francisco). She was a professor at the Catholic University of Quito. She is currently associate director of Public Programs & Research Independent Curators International in New York. She is co-founder of Constructo / an international collective platform dedicated to the research and debate of art and visual culture. Since 2009 she has been a member of ceroinspiración, a space for exhibition and residence in Quito. Some of her projects include: "The Life of Objects" (VOGT Gallery, New York, 2011), "Materia Prima" (Eighth Mercosur Biennial, Brazil, 2011) 2011), "Stories Fugaces" (LaBoral, Gijón, 2011) "The Nature of Things" at the Biennial of the Americas as a collaborator of Paola Santoscoy (Denver, 2010). She previously held positions as associate curator at New Langton Arts in San Francisco and research coordinator at the City Museum in Quito.
