He was born in Caracas, Venezuela; he lives and works in New York. He worked as professor and researcher at the Universidad Central de Venezuela and in the Museo de Bellas Artes in Caracas. In 2003 he won a grant from the Fundación Cisneros, he obtained a Master's degree in Curatorial Studies and Contemporary Culture in Bard College, New York. Since then he directs the Educational Program of Dia Art Foundation, at Beacon, New York.
