Helena Producciones
Colombia
Helena Producciones is an art collective dedicated to researching matters related to artistic and cultural production in accordance with the economic and political conditions of the specific context where they decide to work. They carry out curatorial activities facilitating dialog between local activity and the international panorama. As a way of generating structures external to the formal systems of artistic and traditional education, Helena Producciones develops the pedagogical project “Escuela Móvil de Saberes y Práctica Social”, a project that encourages collective knowledge and artistic action based on working with specific communities. In 2010 it became associated with the residence network “Triangle Network”, in order to develop for the first time in the rural context –on the beaches of Juanchaco, Ladrilleros, and La Barra, by the bay of Buenaventura, Colombia– a meeting point for research and artistic production during 15 days. The Helena archive has been part of exhibitions such as Six Lines of Flight: Shifting Geographies in Contemporary Art, SFMOMA (2012); Living as Form, Creative Time, New York (2011); Cali en el Espejo, Or Gallery Vancouver, (2007); To be Political it has to Look Nice, Apexart, Nueva York (2003); De la representation a l’action, Le Plateau, Paris (2002).
