Mauricio de Mello Dias studied at Rio's Federal University as well as at the Schule fuer Gestaltung in Switzerland and New York's The Printmaking Workshop. Walter Stephan Riedweg conducted workshops in performance studies at New York University.
Dias & Riedweg have worked collectively since 1993 on art, theatre and music projects. They have participated in numerous solo shows and biennials, including Istanbul, Säo Paulo and Venice as well as at Documenta and inSite San Diego/Tijuana. They currently live and work in Rio de Janeiro.
