Colectivo Los Ingrávidos

Mexico

(Tehuacán, Puebla, Mexico, 2012) Mexican audiovisual collective founded from the need to disarticulate the audiovisual grammar that the aesthetic-television-cinematographic corporativism has used and uses to effectively ensure the dissemination of an audiovisual ideology through which it maintains a continuous social and perceptual control over the majority of the population. The collective is based on the inspiration of the historical avant-gardes, as well as on the defense of a more daring, independent and experimental cinema linked to a commitment of form and content against alienating realities. His methods combine digital and analog material, found footage, mythologies, social protests and documentary poetry. Their radical experimentations with diverse devices allow them to demarcate the territory in which an image, whether visual or sound, becomes a condition of possibility for a political art. Colectivo Los Ingrávidos has participated in different exhibitions and festivals including the International Film Festival Rotterdam, Images Festival, Punto de Vista, The Florida Experimental Film/Video Festival, CROSSROADS, BFI London Film Festival, Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival, Media City Film Festival, International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, Ann Arbor Film Festival and Festival Internacional de Cine FILMADRID. Their work has been part of the 2019 Whitney Biennial and the Biennial of the Moving Image in Buenos Aires (BIM). They have also been part of the Flaherty NYC Series Common Visions 2018 and have won several awards, including the Kodak Award at the MIFF - Moscow International Experimental Film Festival 2021. Their recent poetry collection SOLARES was published by Evidence Press at the Centre for Expanded Poetics (Montréal) and their THESIS ON AUDIOVISUAL will soon be published in anthologies in France, Peru, Mexico and Great Britain.
