Is Executive Director of the Galería de la Raza, a Chicano Art non-profit organization in San Francisco, California. From 1996 to 1998 was the curator in El Museo del Barrio, New York, and from 1984 to 1994 was the curator in the Luis Angel Navarro Library in Bogota, Colombia. Her writings have been published in Beyond the Fantastic: Contemporary Art Criticism from Latin in America (London, InIVA; Boston, MIT Press), and in art magazines such as Art in America (USA), Poliéster (Mexico), Parkett (Switzerland) BOMB (USA) and Art Nexus (Colombia). 

Ponce de León is the author of El efecto mariposa: Ensayos críticos sobre arte y cultura en Colombia (Bogota: IDCT, 2004).
