La lengua del diablo, programa curatorial 2018
La lengua del diablo (The Devil's Tongue) is a metaphor of a nahua community that lives conscious and unconsciously forgetting itself, abandoning and letting die a peculiar way of seeing the world due to the ever growing loss of the nahuatl language. This project will produce two sound art works that register this identity and memory loss through the loss of nahuatl, particularly in the Northern part of the San Pablo del Monte, in the state of Tlaxcala. Working alongside this particular community, this project seeks to reflect on the situation of this native tongue, the negative connotation it has been given due to decades of a negation policy toward this language, and to think about actions towards its strengthening.
